SUMMER STAFF

We have filled all the posistions for summer staff 2008 but are still looking for certified lifeguards and ropes course facilitators.

The Need: Every year Camp Copass hires high school and college students to be part of the staff and help out during the summer months. Hundreds of children and youth visit the camp during this time and our goal is to create an environment conducive to the Holy Spirit working in their lives. Our staffers are not counselors that work directly with the campers; rather our ministry is serving and taking care of the needs of others.

The Job: It takes a lot to feed 500-700 campers 3 meals a day, 5 days a week so the majority of the time spent is in the dining hall. Other staff jobs include the the concession stand, supplying toilet paper, picking up trash, cleaning cabins, and restocking soft drink machines. On Monday nights some camps have a carnival which the staff help at; face painting, snow cones, cotton candy, and crazy hairstyles are some of the activities provided.

The Pay: This is a paying job. Staffers will get their checks at the end of each week after cleanup. Everyone is also provided with free meals, a different t-shirt for each day, plus other accessories. Most weeks have a schedule of Monday through Friday but there are times when we are needed on Saturdays or Sundays. All the staff are provided a place to live which can be subject to change at times. We are also looking for lifeguards and ropes course facilitators. The camp will pay the cost of certification classes for employees.

The Ministry: Being a summer staffer certainly takes a lot of effort but it is an important part of the ministry. Without us the campers would not have a clean place to sleep in nor food to eat and the worship leaders would not have a receptive audience to tell them about the love of Jesus. The job has its own rewards; many people make lifelong friends and some have even met their future husband or wife. There are also opportunities for spiritual growth; every morning a different staffer leads the rest in a short devotion and once a week there will be a Bible study. A few times in the summer the staff enjoys a night when the camp takes everyone out to eat.

Ropes Course Instructor: We are also looking for a person to help us with our ropes course and become a facilitator. The camp will set up and pay for the class. This person should live in the Denton area and be able to help after the summer as needed throughout the year.

Age Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 or have completed their junior year in high school.

Dates: Orientation will be on Sunday, June 8th with Girl's Camp starting the next day. The summer will be for ten weeks and end Saturday, August 16th. The camp will do its best to work with people who might need to start early or stay longer. Also everyone gets one week of vacation that must be scheduled in advance.

Contact: If you have any questions feel free to email the Summer Staff Director, Jeremy Holland, at summerstaffdirector@campcopass.com.
